The department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology deals with teaching and training of MBBS students related to medico-legal aspects of patient care. The undergraduate students are taught Forensic Medicine with a view to impart knowledge about Medico-legal aspects of ailments and make them responsible medical practitioners. They should also be able to extend aid to criminal investigating authorities regarding Medical-legal matters. The students also learn about law in relation to medical practice, medical negligence and learn to understand the relevance of code of medical ethics.
1. Museum: Well-equipped museum displaying weapons, poisons, models, charts, slides, X-rays of medicolegal importance and photographs with catalogues.
2. Departmental library: The department has departmental library with collection of printed books as per norms prescribed by National Medical Commission. The library also has information and technology facilities like PC with good collection of e-books and e-journals.
3. Mortuary: The department has a mortuary block with two autopsy tables and provision of all necessary equipments and infrastructure.
4. Research laboratory: the department has well equipped research laboratory with all equipments prescribed by National Medical Commission.
