Dr. Kananbala Avinash Yelikar is a highly distinguished medical professional with a career spanning over 39 years, dedicated to advancing women’s health, medical education, and research. A recipient of the prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy National Award, she has made remarkable contributions as a medical teacher, researcher, and administrator. Her tenure as Dean of the Government Medical College, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), and her leadership roles in national organizations such as the Association of Maharashtra obstetrics and gynecological Societies (AMOGS) reflect her visionary approach and dedication to excellence in the field of healthcare.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Yelikar has mentored over 3,500 undergraduate and 350 postgraduate medical students, while pioneering numerous healthcare initiatives aimed at improving maternal and child health. Her innovative programs in areas like anemia management, safe motherhood, and breast-feeding promotion have transformed healthcare delivery in resource-constrained settings. She has also contributed extensively to medical research, with more than 50 publications in reputed journals and authorship of key medical textbooks and manuals.
